Age is the single greatest risk factor for most causes of death and disability. The odds of developing diabetes, heart disease, most cancers, kidney disease, dementia and many other conditions significantly increase in later life.
By understanding the mechanisms of biological aging at a molecular level, we have the opportunity to slow both the onset and progression of these disorders. The benefit to individuals will be the extension of healthspan — the period of life spent in good health, free from chronic disability and disorders. And the benefits to society will be significant, too.
New funding for our three key research projects would support important next steps — steps that could lead us closer to extending healthspan in people within a decade. We invite you to join us in supporting these exciting initiatives.
